What does it mean when your boyfriend is acting indecisive about having a child?

So my boyfriend originally told me he doesn’t want kids, then after a while he changed his mind and said he may want them eventually just not right now. He’s always showing me pictures of his little niece , and even asked me if I thought that me and him would make cute babies , and started describing what he thought they would look like. He told me that he wanted me yo get on birth control but when I mentioned setting up an appointment it seemed like he was trying to talk me out of it. Also we have had unprotected sex he told me that we were both being stupid , only to do it again bc we didn’t have any condoms on hand. I personally wouldn’t mind a baby with him but I don’t know why he’s acting very indecisive.

For the sake of the child, not you nor him, please don't even consider having kids until you're married.

Social benefits and a proper birth certificate with the names of both parents means a lot to the child's future.

And yes, you already know it: having a child is a 20-year commitment. It's serious and concern another life.

So just out of curiosity, why does it sound like you are hoping he gives into wanting kids? Are you sure you aren’t just accepting your indecisiveness because he’s indecisive? I’m just wondering because I was in the same position as you at one point and girl, if you want kids don’t stay with someone that doesn’t know for a fact.
