Does it sound like he was jealous?

I was mentioning a girlfriend had brought up to me that she knew of a guy who liked me. My friends with benefits was around for it and almost seemed a little jealous. He said whoever the other guy who liked me was wasn't "ballsy" enough since he wasn't coming to directly approach me.

I said that it was true that I did prefer a direct approach and I did like for guys to just tell me if they like me. He then right away told me he liked how we were. I guess he was meaning he liked how we were together or something. Was he trying to get me to stay with him instead of potentially exiting our "thing" to get with another guy?

For more insight, my friends with benefits has told me stuff before like he thinks I'm cute, he thinks I'm always beautiful, he deems me girlfriend material, I'm really easy to talk to, etc. I don't know if any of that would help determine why he said he liked how we were or whether he was jealous of the thought of another guy having eyes on me.

Later on he also said we needed to sleep together more before someone asked me out. Is he afraid of losing me/what we have?

I wasn't trying to. I didn't expect my friend to say that. And I still have no idea if there was any truth to what she said or she was screwing with me. We agreed on a friends with benefits arrangement and right now, that's great for me. I am good with just having consistent sex with someone. Relationship things can wait.
