I have seen guys get embarrassed when they (try to ) act cute or do a dance that belongs to a girl group. Why do they get embarrassed by this? and what does their embarrassment indicate about them?

Probably for the same reason a lot of girls get embarrassed doing that. Or anyone can get embarrassed doing anything silly.
It's not that deep and it's definitely not a guy thing or some fEmiNiSm crap other people are going on about.
I've met plenty guys that will do the cringiest rachet dances and group sing Girls Just Wanna Have Fun or Taylor Swift songs in public. I've yet to meet a girl that will hit the griddy and rap NY State of Mind or something.
I swear sometimes it seems like no one here gets any 🍆 at all.

Because it shows off a side of them they don´t want to show off. Simply spoken many guys don´t like being told they are cute. Because a man isn´t cute he´s strong, decisive, masculine and formidable. That´s why guys try to keep their cool on a dancefloor. They want to be seen as a respectful partner.
Being called cute could make a guy feel like not being taken seriously in a way that guys see that as a sign that they´re being friendzoned. Especially if there is one girl in a group watching that something a guy can get insecure about such a situation.

I think it's because what girls find cute we think makes us look creepy/weird/stupid? I think we guys have our own assumption of what a girl finds attractive and when we step outside of it we assume we are screwing up/looking stupid.

Only because there are certain stereotyped sex behaviours and they would want to play out what they think is their supposed sex role. And I disagree with this. I love a cute guy. I love a guy that shows his appreciation for his girl. I love a guy who puts his girl first, in front of everyone else around him. I love a guy who is himself in the most cutest way possible. I love a guy with feelings and emotions.

It indicates that they are males and that doing something that is counter to millions of years of evolution that created distinct differences between males and females. They are doing something that the opposite sex would do and it feels uncomfortable and awkward since they are not females.

I have kids. And we you got kids, you have an inate tendency to add -y at the end of everything to intentionally sound cute. At first it felt embarrasing. But as my kids grow older i begin to miss it.
