How should I deal when my boyfriend is brutally honest with me?

Hi guys, I've been with my boyfriend for 2 years. He is 27. My boyfriend has been brutally honest with me from the beginning. This has always hurted me and felt like insults. In addition to, he too bottles up his emotions and never express anything even when he is sad and I have to guess what's going on. So I asked him to try to Express his emotions more. But he said he can't express his emotions without being brutally honest. I asked him if he could be a bit polite and caring while Expressing his emotions and he said he will try that. What should I do guys?

it's better that he's brutally honest with you than you having to discover the harsh truth for yourself

for example, an obese guy shouldn't have to wait till he's on the hospital bed to realize that being obese was a bad thing. if someone had the balls to tell him that's he a disgusting slob, sure it'll hurt his feelings but it's necessarily to spurt some change in him so he can save himself before it's too late. but apparently this is "fatphobic"

point is, brutal honesty is going to come off as insults from time to time. it's better you judge him for his actions than his words.

Brutally honest how? Women tend to get their feelings hurt easily, so what may hurt one girl’s feelings may not hurt another. Do you mean he’s cussing at you? I don’t get why as men we’re wrong for putting out how we feel by expressing it the way we know how to. Just because it hurts your feelings we’re always in the wrong. You want honesty but can’t handle it when we’re honest.

I'd he being honest to be honest with you, or to be hurtful.
There is a big difference.
