What does it mean when a guy says he misses me after first date?

I went on a date with a guy from online dating. We had texted a lot prior to first date, and in my interpretation, had developed pretty good connections. We had a lot of similarities in terms of interests and how we text (we both don't send one or two-sentence texts).

I'm not sure if this context matter: Prior to meeting, I had stated that I'm looking for a long-term relationship and he said he had intentions for long-term.

After the first date, he had said that he missed me and wanted to see me again. What does that mean? Did he "catch feelings" or was he emotionally attached to me? Or was he just infatuated and mistook that feelings for missing me?

I tend to assume it's his infatuation and he might've felt the same with other girls he's dated in the meanwhile, but I could be wrong in underestimating his intention.

My question is what does "miss" mean for guys? Is there emotion in it or not? He said a few times that he missed me, missed my smile, wanted to see me again, said I'm amazing, etc.

Is there information you’re leaving out? This seems pretty straightforward. He said he misses you and wants to see you again, where’s the confusion? If you like him go on a second date if you don’t say you’re not interested. That’s literally it, no need to complicate it.

I read your update and it’s impossible to know how he meant it but speculating is a good way to waste time. Say you find out, in what way will it serve you? Unless you’re leaving information out it sounds like you’re putting more weight in his words than he knows cause it seems like he’s just showing interest.

Also if you’re spending so much time on pointless questions maybe you don’t really like him or maybe you’re nervous and this is a way of stalling. Either way I would do what I mentioned in my earlier reply?

I did not think nor know if it meant anything, that's why I asked what it means when a guy says he misses a woman - I think that's apparent.

The same word can mean differently for women and men, and even among the same gender it varies depending on the individuals, that's why I asked what it generally means.

I didn't think I would at all. It's quite helpful. It teaches you not to overthink simplistic sentences a small child could understand. In fact I hear them say it. "I miss you Mommy". Yes, even small children know what it means. It was a first date, are you so stuck on yourself that you think you could warrant something more in so little time?

Do you know my interactions with him? What he and I talked about on the date, our text conversations prior to meeting for first date? Our connection?
