Guys, Why do men say they'd prefer a housewife dependent on them rather than a humble working wife contributing to the household in todays economy?

Do men respect the hardworking but humble woman or the homemaker/housewife?

Yeah either way is okay but in today's economy unless you're making over 150,000 a year you're not living comfortably.

By comfortably I don't mean luxury.

I mean you DON'T have to work 12+ hours to try & make ends meet, you WON'T have to worry about bills, you DON'T have to cut down on groceries because money is tight, your children WON'T have to suffer from lacking necessities and they WON'T miss out on joining the local sports teams, etc.

Like seriously where is the intelligence 🙄 of saying you want a woman financially dependent upon you. Particularly when historically women have worked and contributed to the household - miners wives made and sold things, farmers wives, sailors wives, etc EDUCATE YOURSELF instead of believing the bullshit everyone spouts like a simple minded fool.

It didn't work in the 1950s - most lower income single working households were full of abuse.

It didn't work in the 1970s or 1980s - Married with Children displays the average contemptuous single income household from that era.

First of all I don’t see her as dependent on me. She does a lot at home that I depend on as well, we work together to make everything run smoothly. This isn’t just a financial thing. If she’s just dependent on me for money then chances are we wouldn’t be together. Not only that if he really loves her he doesn’t look at her as a burden, someone who is leeching off of him. Yes he understand that’s bills need to be paid, but even if he was single bills still need to be paid. I’ve been w someone for 14 years, she hasn’t worked the last 10, which works for us. But I don’t look at her as a burden. She takes care of me in many ways that make things easier for me as well. This was her choice to be a stay at home wife. I didn’t force her, tell her she has to stay home. I don’t think most men are against having a partner who works, we’re just not into these strong, independent women. Because chances are they have masculine traits, which makes for bad juju when it comes to relationships between men and women. Men don’t look at women for security. Security meaning in the way of money so if she’s making thousands of dollars that isn’t something that makes her sexier in his eyes. I’d rather date the cute chick from McDonalds than a CEO. Chances are if she’s a CEO she’s not going to have time for me, for our family, she’s going to be very masculine, maybe even w this attitude of I don’t need you.

Because it´s their fantasy. A scenario where the man is the financial provider and the woman is working at home doing the housework and educating the kids is their ideal. I assume that many guys never think about the downside of such scenarios but only about how strong it would make them look.
Many older guys grew up in a world where that was possible. If you had a good qualified job as a doctor or even in administration that was possible. So their sons might at first prefer that, too does that mean they won´t fall in a love with a humble working wife? No of course not.

Historically women have worked and contributed to the household. Sailors wives sold shells & what not. Miners wives sold everything from curtains to bedspreads. Farmers wives sold produce at market. Herbalists & wise women offered cures - and of course were paid - for dozens if not hundreds of aliments because doctors were not readily available.

Sure women have worked in history in the past. But there have always been families where women haven't. It's not a question of inferiority in all cases it's a rather that many guys grow into having a very traditional mindset. Because what are you're referring to is the situation of common people but guys idolise the situation of the upper class people.
To be clear to be clear I wouldn't want a woman that is completely depending on me financially because I think that wouldn't be healthy for the relationship especially since I'm not keen on having kids.

Thanks for the MHO. As a small addition I wouldn´t take votes on here concerning such topics like yours what kind of wife guys want as representable for all guys in general. Because what I´ve seen from polls of this site most guys on here consider themselves either traditional or conservative so your real life experience could be completely different since in many countries at least in the West conservatists are rarely in the majority.

men aren't specifically asking for dependency but in today's day and age where divorce is a likelihood and the divorce courts favor women, it makes more sense for the assets and finances go towards a housewife who has no money or job rather than a working career woman who has her money and her job

I really don't need anyone that is dependent on me.
I need someone that is very independent.
I have an insane work schedule, and work out of town a lot, so someone who can function on their own, not relying on me to lead her around by the gand.
