I just met this really sweet guy and we’ve been hanging out a lot one-on-one but I can’t tell if he only likes me as a close friend. How do I tell?

I met a total sweetheart at my university recently. I saw him playing Chopin on the piano the day we met, just as I was earlier in the day, and I was immediately captivated. He’s a piano prodigy, very handsome, brilliant (math major at an Ivy League school), and so kind to me. I was also a piano prodigy when I was younger, but I lost my motivation to play until I met him. Lately we’ve been staying up late (like until 3-5am) just talking in his dorm. Sometimes the topics are pretty personal and I can tell he really trusts me. We also have a lot of common interests that we talk about, like classical music and math. He’s told me before that he thinks I’m very talented and smart. However, I can’t tell if he likes me romantically or not. Last night was my birthday and he texted me exactly as the clock struck 12 to wish me a happy birthday, and then brought some food up to my dorm so we could eat together. He also looks out for my safety a lot. A few days, I went out for a party and got somewhat drunk, and he took care of me when I got back, and walked me back to my dorm. I can’t tell if he’s just really kind or if he’s interested in me. I’ve always wanted someone just like him. Pardon me if I’m somewhat dense, I’m inexperienced with romance. Am I friend zoned?
