I've always worked in very male dominated work places. Usually men around my own age like late teens to early 20s and I've noticed a few of them will just come out with obvious lies for no reason whatsoever.
I usually won't call them out on it unless I think they're a massive dick head and will just go along with it.
For example this guy at my work called Joe. Joe is a little younger then me but Joe thinks he's the shit at work all the mangers think he's wonderful just because his performance rate is high but that's only because he's not actually doing his job right. He also has the gift of the gab and the mangers actually buy into it.
Me, my friend and him were all given the same premonition at work but it's seemed to have gotten to Joe the most now he talks to me and my friend as if he's are manger when we actually have a lot more credentials, skills and experience then him. I've called him out on it as he's lazy and tells me yo do his jobs as if he's in charge when in fact he can't be arsed to do it himself but wants to look like a good worker in front of the mangers.
Joe's so desperate to be seen as amazing to everyone he ignored me calling him out and asked about how my wedding planning was going along but before I could open my mouth Joe went on a irrelevant rant about how his aunt and uncle work at Nato and are like super high up there.
I knew it was total bs as the company I work at isn't hard to get a job there you don't even have to speak the language and he comes from extremely poor area and isn't well educated. I felt abit sorry for him in that moment as I felt like he was just lying to trying to feel a little bit of power over me, like he was trying to prove himself to me who comes from a more well to do background.
Joe is constantly making lies like this up and I know a few others like thus to and have worked with a lot of men who are full of shit and live in a dream world. Girls can be just as bad but I've not really experienced that as much
