Today I had a very bizarre situation at a local pharmacy that in Europe wouldn't exist. The teller, do to their own behavior, became aggressive and even swearing at me despite the fact that I remainded professional at all times. I did after all immediately complain to the pharmacy owner right after the situation.
I merely wanted to know why they were watching me over a candy display.
Now, in Europe, any man worth his salt would've stepped up & intervened. Told the rude, ignorant and foul mouthed cashier that their behavior was uncalled for.
But come to America & the "men" that witnessed situation stood there pretending they had more important things to do on their phone.
A dog would've been more useful than them.
What Guys Said
I think some American men would be fast to react while others would be complacent.
Within your context of a story, yeah that’s not right to go off on people especially if you’re at work. I’ve worked in customer service ( banking/ pharmacy) , there’s no excuse for attitude even if someone is rude to you, you use your professionalism to diffuse the situation or decline service within the parameters of your jobs policy.
Outside the context of that story, I’m respectful at all times until given a reason not to be. Now I can be understanding of other variables that can contribute to someone’s emotional state to give context but still doesn’t excuse being rude or anything. I believe in the old saying , don’t start none, there won’t be none.
Because most American men are guided by whats in it for themselves.
