Is it concerning that my boyfriend still wears a shirt his ex girlfriend bought him?

I've been dating my boyfriend for 8 months now. He dated his previous girlfriend for 5 years and the only reason they broke up was because he wanted kids and she did not. I recently asked him if he still owns anything she gave him and he told me she bought him a shirt years ago that he still actively wears to this day. It isn't a super nice shirt, which I would understand why someone would want to keep it... he told me it's literally a tshirt from a gift shop that says "Naples, Florida" on it from when she went there on a family vacation with her parents and bought it for him. Why would he still keep that shirt and actively wear it? It's not a "nice shirt" and it's not an "expensive item". He doesn't lack clothes or money to buy new clothes. He's clearly aware that shirt is from his ex.

There are some things that women assume, based on their optic, that men also do. We can only understand the world from the perspectives we have or know. Hence, let me shed some light on this. Women attach an emotional memory to an item that men generally don’t. What I mean is if a girl dumps a guy and asks for certain items back it means something. A guy, almost always, couldn’t give a hoot. You want that hoody back? Okay. I’ll get another one. Leave me and I still have this t-shirt from a vacation - we’ll, it’s a perfectly wearable shirt so why wouldn’t I keep it? Throw it away because my ex’s father in law bought it for me? That’s just stupid.


I promise you, every man you will ever meet or love has a past. You do to. It means absolutely nothing. Just move on and be happy and don’t seek out problems to address if there aren’t any real ones.
