I (27f) sent a request to a guy (30m I think?) who was interested in marrying me last year but I was with my cheater ex and now he won't accept?

I know I messed up! It's been 14 hours. He's away since 14 hours? Hasn't opened Instagram at all? Also, the reason I said for rejecting him was that he was following a lot of girls who didn't follow him back (simp behaviour and this repulsed me).
- He has like 150 followers (literally a dream for me) and follows 1.4k people, majority of it being random women. To me, it comes across as thirsty. Like, doesn't he like anything else except other women? I never spoke to him directly but our parents spoke. It seems like he is intentionally avoiding me, because he is following 1.4k people and has 0 posts.
- Someone who follows 1.4k people means they're active on it. I think my dad told him the reason. After this, he removed his own picture from his profile picture and turned his account private.
- I didn't think about it for an year because I thought he was a random guy, but my mom just told me yesterday that he was a good family friend's son. The guy is about perfect and seems exactly like my type (except the simp behaviour part) and I am single now.
- What should I do? I already sent him an Instagram request and it's going to be almost 15 hours since he hasn't accepted it. Should I DM him too? Or would that be too desperate? Please help & advice. Update : His following increased.. he followed 2 more people and no I am not one of them. Also, he hasn't accepted my request yet? What should I do? Forget him? I don't think that he isn't interested in me.. if he wasn't, why didn't he decline my request yet?

I think you're overthinking things a bit. I don't think 15 hours is a long time so I wouldn't worry too much. And there is nothing wrong with following a lot of people on Instagram, especially if you're active. I wouldn't say reaching out to him is being desperate, but just keep your expectations low. Also, don't forget to enjoy your life and not stress too much about these things. Whatever happens, happens and is meant to be. If it doesn't happen, then it wasn't your time.

Lol wow way to tell him he’s your choice now after your first choice cheated on you. Imagine if a man came up to you. Said I want to be w you now. Even though. Imagine if that happened to you? I mean if she told me she’s not ready for marriage yet when I proposed, for her to at least still be w me till she’s ready would make me feel a little better about the rejection. But the fact that you didn’t, that says something else. Which again brings me to the point of why am I second? Especially if she’s an older lady, you’re not that young. Not that old either but a lot of men know as women get older they start to realize they’re not married, no kids, so it’s like ok is she just settling for me cause she’s on a timeline. Maybe she has kids, no man so you wonder if she’s picking me because she needs help financially or it’s truly because she cares about me. Again is she settling.
