Why is he suddenly being dry?

There's this guy who has a crush on me. The first time we texted, he was flirty and sweet and even said he loved me. However, now when I text him, he takes hours to respond, and his messages are dry; when I snap him, he leaves me open while his snap score goes up (I even asked for a pic of him to assign to his contact, and he told me that he doesn't like taking photos; then I check his snap score and it went up). I'm confused and don't understand why he's suddenly changed his behaviour.

So, I texted him saying: Hey, I've noticed that our texts have been getting dry, and I'm not sure where we're at. I'm genuinely interested in having a meaningful relationship with you. I don't want to waste my time if we're not on the same page, so let's have a real talk.

and he replied: Hey, sorry I’ve just been super busy. I don’t think this weekend will be good for me (for our date)

I’m not a fan of the guessing game and don’t encourage it. If you’re interested in him and either have the impression or the confirmation that he likes you too, then be blunt and ask what his intentions are for talking to you. It’s a scary question but what you don’t want is to invest any more energy into this guy if he’s only going to waste your time.


If he does want to pursue something then the goal should be to minimize all the texting and social media exchanges, instead hang out in person, go on dates, create memories. Mainly corresponding through the phone gets boring after a while anyway, topics run out, conversations become disintegrating. He could be in that place now.
