Am I being disrespected?

My boyfriend and I have been together only very briefly. I am learning him, and he is learning me. I’ve noticed something he does that I’m not particularly crazy about and he’s done it twice now. The first time he called a girl babe, while I’m sitting with him. The second time he called the waitress “mi amor.” Again, “he doesn’t mean anything by it”. Im split down the middle how it makes me feel. And though i want it not to nag at me I can’t help but side eye him and feel like he’s trying to make it seem like him and I aren’t together. I’m not going to try to change him. But am I tripping?

I see people gaslight and make me second guess what I’m feeling, he tries to say he’s being respectful toward the girl but I was like “what?”…

Exactly, further more I addressed it and he said it’s just how he talks I’ll learn to understand him, he’s Puerto Rican and he said that’s how they talk. It’s actually infuriating. I like him but if he feels so comfortable disrespecting me Im not sure what i should do.

I wouldn't like it either. If my guy didn't stop after I told him it bothered me id probably break up with him. I'm a possessive person. I'm the only amor or babe.

I’m glad it’s not in my head. I’m pretty reasonable and even tempered but I don’t like when people play in my face and disrespect me.

Right! Now twice it’s happened while we are out to eat. It’s making me feel like he’s trying to make a point to them that we aren’t together or we are there as friends.

Tell him to stop. Say "That is disrespectful, you would not want me to start calling other guys "babes" " If he does not understand that, then sorry but that does not gonna work.
