Im being called an asshole for kicking out my boyfriend and his 10yo daughter, who had no where to go?

I'm really at a loss here because in my eyes, I'm dead tired of being disrespected by a grown man and his offspring. But on the other hand, they truly didn't have anywhere to go.

Basically his daughter has behavior issues (super pick me which often results in aggressive behavior- like "play" punching or kicking to get attention). She needs all eyes on her 24/7 and if they aren't, you're going to get hit, one way or another and she laughs the whole time, like she's evil or something and likes causing you pain.

The final straw for me was tonight I'm trying to eat dinner after busting my ass all day (worked all day, came home and cleaned and cooked). The daughter got done with her dinner first and as I'm trying to eat, this girl is taking off her dirty socks and throwing them at her dad and he's laughing and throwing them back. I told them they had better stop cause if that shit gets in my plate there WILL be problems. Well they kept it up and her sock landed right in my dish. So I immediately stood up, threw my plate in the sink half full and told them to get the fuck out. Pack everything and leave cause you're not coming back. boyfriend was begging me to just accept an apology and I refused because these people seriously have zero respect and I'm done. Like you're now an ex and not my problem. But either way, my friends are saying I'm a fucking cunt because they have no where to go.

We are only hearing one side, and probably only a part of it. But if this is your home I think you had every right to kick them out. Having a right to kick them out doesn't mean it was OK though.

The father should have stepped in. You should not have needed to do this. It was his job to discipline his daughter.

I don't know what else was going on, but it sounds like you are fed up with it. If it's that bad, and it gives you peace, then I don't see anything wrong with kicking them out. And I sure don't think you were being an asshole unless there is a more to it than what you said.

If they had nowhere else to go, they should have thought of that before they apparently took advantage of your hospitality. Don't worry about them, they'll survive. Maybe a little discomfort will make them think twice about their lives and what direction they are going.

The legality is a different matter. It's possible that you had no legal right to kick them out without giving formal notice and going through an eviction if they didn't leave. There is a good chance this was considered a tenant-landlord relationship, with all the rules that go with it. However I very strongly disagree with the way some of those laws are written.

Again I have to stress that we are only hearing one side.

you're not a fucking cunt you did the right thing. you were establishing and setting boundaries which they disrespected. they needed to be taught a hard life lesson to treat other people with respect which they're finding out the hard way. don't be hard on yourself you did the right thing. that child is having a poor upbringing and it'll show later on in life since it's already showing in her actions now. and the father should know better at his age but doesn't since he's a manchild himself

I mean... I think it was a bit of on overreaction, personally. It kind of sounds like a kid being a kid. And sure, a lot of us don't like kids. I don't either. Still, an immediate kick out of the house seems pretty harsh for something that was actually kind of harmless. Maybe more reasonable could have been to pull the guy aside and say "Hey, this isn't working out. I don't want to continue this relationship. You need to start looking for somewhere else to stay." Y'know, give them a little bit of time. That's just me, though.

Seems harsh, yes. But if your tolerance was reached and he's not interested in teaching his daughter respect, then it's on him. Without getting into the weeds of your relationship, I'm curious how involved you were in her discipline at home; but I suppose that doesn't really matter at this point.

She could always go back to her mom. Throwing dirty socks on someone's plate is beyond disgusting. I would have made the offender eat that then kicked them out.
