Why do you think this guy joke about I can’t cook?

This guy I work with asked if I’m going to work for Thanksgiving. I told him no, that I’m cooking. He asked what I’m cooking I replied “Thanksgiving food” only because I didn’t feel like giving a run down on everything I’m cooking. He laughed, smiled and said “You can’t cook” before leaving out the door. I said “yeah I can.”

How can a person joke about this. When they never tried my cooking nor know anyone who has? Am I overthinking or over reacting, or does it sound like he’s just being rude? Because if he is, I was going to talk to him about it.

I don’t take well to “insults hidden behind jokes” disrespect or rudeness. But at the same time, I don’t want to over react if it’s not.

If you don’t like people teasing or joking with you, maybe just tell him you’re not comfortable with that.

I can take a joke. The problem with this world is that people want to throw away insults, and disguise it with “I’m joking”. If a person feel offended, people then say “you’re sensitive”. That’s manipulation. Making someone feel that they are sensitive, or can’t take a joke. Expecting to say whatever, and that person just brush it off.

He never joked with me in that way. Even when he asked if I can cook, the early part of this year. We weren’t talking for some weeks, because I didn’t answer my phone for the job. That day was the first time we spoke since weeks. So of course, I’m going to think he’s trying to insult me.

If that's how you feel, that's fine. But for you to make it seem like this is some severe insult is laughable. Like you said, you've never even cooked for him... so why would you take his insult about your cooking seriously at all? And what does it matter that you haven't spoke in weeks? That's completely irrelevant.

I didn’t make it more than it was. That’s why I needed opinions on if I was overreacting. You came along made it more than it was by assuming all women can’t take a joke. If you wasn’t going to reply being helpful, then you should’ve passed it by with your negative replies.

Now, with me adding that we haven’t spoke in weeks. Was giving a little more detail to why I feel the way I feel. If you can’t comprehend that. Then it’s a you problem.

This app is an outlet for us (the people) to ask whatever we like. It’s your choose to comment or not. You chose to comment something ignorant. So why are you taking it too serious?

My main point is: he made a joke about your cooking when he's never ate your cooking... so it has no credibility, thus should never be taken seriously.

Okay, so since you can’t seem to understand. I’ll break it down for you. You clearly asked why I’m taking what the guy said too seriously, if he never tried my cooking. Dumb question get dumb answers. So I asked why are you taking what I typed too seriously, for you to assume about all women can’t take a joke.

I call your question dumb. Because even if he never tried my cooking (which is a good reason why I’m feeling like he shouldn’t joked about it) I can feel bothered about it, if he’s trying to insult me, but in my face just talking to me. There are people who dislike someone for no reason. There are people who prejudge someone, and have to come back around to say they aren’t like what they expected. But you have a hard time believing someone could insult someone cooking without even trying it first. People will say your outfit isn’t cute, just because they secretly don’t like you.

People smile in individuals face, but talk behind their back. They look you directly in your eyes, and can have hatred in their heart for you. Once again, I didn’t know if I was just overreacting. So I asked.

I explained why I brought up that we weren’t talking. So once again, if you can’t seem to comprehend that…then yes, that’s a YOU problem.
