My boss has started touching me, am I thinking too much into it?

My boss (38m) has started slightly touching me (25f), at the moment it’s just a poke on the shoulder to get my attention and yesterday he squeezed my skin on my elbow to show me that we don’t have nerve endings there.

He always makes comments about being careful to not too me in case I take it the wrong way though, like today he said when he saw the fluff on my cardigan he didn’t want to touch me in case I thought of it in a bad way.

He shouldn’t be touching you at all. And the fact that he’s aware of that, by saying that he wouldn’t want to touch you incase you took it the wrong way, tells me that this isn’t the first time he’s been inappropriately touching an employee. Not necessarily in a sexual way, but he shouldn’t be poking you or anything - if he wants your attention, he can use his words.

He shouldn't and knows he shouldn't and so is testing how far he can take it before you stop him. I would say, if it happens to be convenient, quit on the spot the next time he touches you. Taking away his eye candy is the only way guys like that have a chance of learning that they should grow up. But if you don't think you can easily find a different job, maybe if there is an HR department?

He's testing your boundaries. Let him know that even his casual touches are unwelcome. If it keeps happening report each incident to Human Resources.

He’s testing the waters. You have to tell him to stop touching or you’ll report him for inappropriate behaviour

Put boundaries down otherwise he'll probably operate under the "no news is good news" mentality and keep escalating.

He should keep it professional and not do that especially if you feel awkward about it, if you don’t like it politely tell him to stop

No, that's harassment. Tell him you need your space (or if you're worried he'll be an asshole report him to HR).

It's YOUR body. If you DON'T want him touching you, then legally he is committing assault each time he touches you!
