My crush’s friend group started inviting me to hang with them a lot more recently, could this mean anything?

I’m a university student and I have quite a few friend groups. There’s this guy im quite interested in, that I’ve hung out with a few times but we only really hang out if we go on nights out together with his other friends. He has a close group of friends that I’ve met but I’m not “part of their group”

He’s a very quiet and an introverted guy (he’s also Japanese) so he doesn’t really speak much in group settings, unless he’s really close to those friends. But recently he’s started to speak to me a lot more and glances at me more than he used to. Also, his friends have started to invite me a lot more to their groups house parties and to hang out with them, when in the past it used to be my friends and I who would be inviting him and his friends to our plans. Could it be that he’s becoming interested in me?

I’m aware he’s recently just come out of a long relationship. And I’m aware that Japanese guys can act more strategically than western guys and Japanese people are less direct generally. But at the same time, guys are guys and i believe “if they wanted to, they would” and he could be obvious if he wanted to be.

Can anyone help me out on this?

I think it could possibly. If he wasn't interested at all he wouldn't bother slowly starting to include you more and more. It wouldn't be worth his time in my opinion. Seeing as how he just got out of a longterm relationship and whatever other cultural dating differences there might be... it might explain why he is slowly doing more and more with you. The fact that he is trying to include you in his group of friends can only be a good thing. Most people I know don't do that unless they like the person. It is a step short of introducing them to family. Friends are usually really close and what would he have to gain from this if there was no interest?

It’s not been him directly who’s invited me recently, but his very close friends. But I don’t really know them well and I was really surprised to receive invites from them as I’m closer with my crush.
What i gathered from that is he talked about me to his friends and they started to invite me to include me more. Does it seem that way to you too?

I would totally agree with that. Again you have to ask yourself what do they gain by inviting you into the group if it isn't for their friend's benefit? Nothing. I don't invite random people into my group of friends because I felt like a wildcard that night and wanted to see how people reacted lol

I think that you should try and use his friends to see what they think, as they might be "in on it" assuming he likes you and that's why you were added to their group. I think that a subtle indication that you like him will go from them to him and then he may be more at ease to do something about it

Yeah, "if you wanted to then you would too". I recommend letting him know you are interested. Right now all you are doing is showing up and expecting him to do all the work.

Rejection is not a big deal at. I've dealt with it since I was 13 when I asked a girl on a playground date. So you won't even let him know you are interested?
