So yesterday, I was talking with my boyfriend on the phone and we were discussing about people having "harmful" habits as coping mechanisms for anxiety, as an explanation for my nail biting, and I told him "well, some people bite their nails, some others drink alcohol" and he added "some beat their wives". He told that as an edgy joke. I didn't really laugh, so it awkward. I used to enjoy dark humor in the past, but I don't find it funny anymore. He has never given me any signs about being abusive, he is very kind and loving, he just rarely makes this kind of jokes, cause he spends much time on the internet and thinks he is just making fun of sexism. Is that a red flag?
