If two people have slept together before can they be just friends without having sex? I'm friends with benefits with this guy (we've been friends with benefits for over a year now) and he joked about how he knows that he could get me to have sex with him again. (If we stopped because I decided to date and have sex with another guy). So is it possible to be ONLY friends with someone after having a sexual relationship with them?

So it’s always best to distance yourself from someone you had sex with , when entering a new relationship , again it’s a respectful decsion it shows you don’t want to hurt your new partners feelings, Also if your FWB’s was really a friend to you , they wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize your relationship, they would be respectful and distance themselves as well , So if your FWB’s isn’t doing that for you , then he isn’t really a friend , he wants to be more than just friends with you. That’s why opposite sex friends can’t really be friends when one of you is in a relationship , it can add so much unwanted fire into your Néw relationship, A guy isn’t going to invest a lot of his time into a girl that he just considers a friend , He will be investing his time into a girl that he wants to be more than just friends with. Yes it's possible. I've had friends with benefits in the past that I'm still friends with and we are no longer friends with benefits. It honestly just depends on emotional maturity and understanding that sex≠love. In that type of arrangement sex is only for physical pleasure. You are friends that don't have feelings for each other outside of lust and friendship. So when sex isn't happening anymore the friendship is there. Romantic love never was.

Eh it will ALWAYS be in his mind that he can be benefits again and will continue to try doing so. If you are or are planning to be in a committed relationship then realistically its not a good idea to stay just "friends" with him. I'm sure there are some cases the guy would be respectful enough about it but if he already said that to you then he is not one of those guys

I think that gets pretty complicated. I know if I was with you and I knew you had a friends with benefits relationship with him I wouldn’t feel comfortable with you continuing a relationship with him.
