Why is this taken man suddenly greeting my mom?

I'm not planning on flirting with him he is taken and recently had a baby with wife. But I am curious, so thanks to anyone willing to clarify this for me.

He is from neighborhood and he is a doctor. I went there for him to scan my kidneys like 9 years ago when I was a kid and I was super shy so he was like 'You like me right?' and joked about it. Fast forward to last year he started saying Good afternoon to my mother, when he didn't for really long despite being a neighbor, and latest time he told her 'Hi' informally and kind of weird.

I'm weirded out by this behavior of his, by the way we are both considered attractive and he is 17 years older than me. I'm not willing to have any fling or affair or even communicate with him but I'm curious what does this mean.

no, it was just that moment when i was a teen when he scanned my kidneys, he is attractive in the face and i was super shy and also for kidney scan you need to pull your pants a little down and he puts gel above your hips and presses that space with a device so i was really shy and awkward and he said OH you LIKE ne HeHe omg i'm feeling awk rn
