ROFL, why do women feel they need to "direct a man what to do" or change some aspect of his personality or career or the way he dresses? It's like a universal instinct with women. I've never seen the same behavior in a man.

Well go ahead and try but for me anyway the response you're gonna get is immediate resentment unless it's a serious flaw and you're absolutely right to point it out. Then I'll take a moment for introspective thought and likely thank you for pushing off my comfort zone.

But if it's constant nagging about insignificant stuff to mold me into your personal Ken doll, you won't have to leave. I'll dump you so fast your head will spin. At that point you've shown you really don't like me, you want someone else. Why would I stay?

Tell him explicitly what you want. And if he wants to work with you, then you'll find out by what he does. You're not his mother, and so you don't need to control him, and you also don't need to play games by wanting him to read your mind. Just ask him what he wants and see if he responds in a way that you appreciate.

Quietly removing yourself. Men seem to be under the impression that when they have you “locked down” that you can’t leave them without a fight. It makes that much stronger of an impression if you leave “suddenly” to them, as if the reason wouldn’t be obvious to you and every woman you know.
