Is his ‘don’t worry about me’ message a goodbye or just needing space?

A guy has been silent for 3 weeks after saying he’s not doing well. I have messages many times asking if he’s okay or if he doesn't feel like talking let me know and I won’t message I don’t fade or ghost so just be honest
He finally replied 3 weeks later saying he’s okay but not doing well and said don’t worry about me. He said it’s probably best for you to not worry or message just enjoy your summer holidays only a few days left.

just wondering how I should interpret his message he’s said he’s not doing well before and not to worry. I’m wondering if this is a final goodbye or he needs space should I check in after a while?

His dont worry about me message is poor communication and if he's your friend he did nothing to ease your concern after you checked in on him, in fact he did the exact opposite. You sound empathetic and loyal, you absolutely must raise your standard of who gets to experience that. Protect your peace

When someone is drowning you throw a life raft, if they refuse to grab it that doesn't mean jump in and drown next to him. His response is him seeing the life raft, throwing it back at you and telling you to leave him alone. Don't lose sleep over what it means, lose respect for people who don't respect you.
