Why does he think I'm high maintenance and a gold digger?

I'm am average 28 year old who is reasonably good looking who has fallen for a wealthy 35 year old. Honestly I'm not out for his money (I genuinely really like him) but he's said a few comments that suggest he thinks I'm high maintenance and a gold digger! How do I show him that I'm not?!

I'm not into brands or materialistic and I don't talk about money. What about a girl would give you the impression she's a gold digger?!

Don't fall for the game. If a guy is telling you he thinks your a gold digger, then what he's really trying to do is play with your head so he can justify having a short fling with you without spending much money or effort. Think about it: if the guy REALLY thought you were too high maintenance and a gold digger, then why is he still dating you? Those are pretty heavy accusations. Most men hate gold diggers, so what would be the reason a man would entertain a woman he felt this way about? I would be very careful and don't fall for the okey doke.

It is probably not about you. He has had bad experiences before with girls who were materialistic so he is being paranoid now. He is skeptical. I think no matter how hard you are going to convince him you aren't a gold digger, it wouldn't work out. Try not to accept overly expensive gifts from him. Personally, I don't accept expensive gifts. I agree with most of what knowmeyourself girl says. His past experiences are what make him feel that way. The only person who is going to change that is him. Hopefully he opens his eyes but if he doesn`t then you got to let him go or deal with him treating you that way.

Maybe you can suggest doing more dates and activities together that cost very little to nothing at all and show him that it is the time that you spend with him that matters, and not the size of his wallet.
