What does hard to please mean?

I've been told that I'm apparently "hard to please when it comes to relationships" by some woman I don't even know, and I actually have no idea what it even means. :/ Lol.

Can anyone out there interpret this phrase and share the definition of this? Lol.

I've googled and can't find the answer. :/ All it tells me in dictionary.com is, "(of persons)" Whatever that means :S

But I've thought about it.

Does it mean that I'm apparently

Clingy, demanding, overbearing, pushy, bossy

Or

Hard to get, arrogant, knows what I want, stubborn

Or, what does it mean? Anyone care to share? Lol.

All the above are possibilities. It depends, really. I mean "Hard to please" is a pretty vague term. I think possibly, though, that it might mean you're high maintenance. Like you need things to be a certain way or you're not happy. Or maybe they need to be expensive, or maybe you need a lot of attention, or maybe you're a little snobby, and only accept the best at all times. I don't know. I really don't know what it would be for you. I don't know you. But if I were to call somebody "hard to please" I'd probably be talking about someone who is high maintenance.

One thing you might be able to do to figure it out is to think of what your standards are on things. Think about how easy it is to upset your day. What it takes to make you happy in a relationship. Maybe if you started doing some reflection on what you're really like, or how you act, or what you feel like you need, and determine your standards are in life and relationships, maybe then you can get some kind of clue. That is assuming you can't get the answers from other people. Which brings me to another plan of action to solve this.

Maybe you can try asking your friends or your family, or even the people who called you "hard to please" in the first place. Maybe you can ask for a few minutes of their time, maybe get a little serious with them, and ask them for an honest opinion on some stuff. Maybe ask them first if they think you're hard to please, or if you're high maintenance. If you're talking to the people who called you this in the first place, ask them to tell you why they said it in the first place. Ask them for the truth, and promise you'll try not to flip on them for the truth.

The answers you're going to get on this question, if they speak the truth, might not be pleasant. But remember, you asked. Whether it's the people who said it in the first place, or your friends, or your family, or even us. Whatever answers you get might not be something that makes you feel a whole lot better. So if this is something you're looking to fix, you might need to just take it all in and find a constructive path to take yourself with this after you find your answers. Something you can do to either fix the problem (If you even see it as a problem) or find a way to just accept it, or turn it around for you somehow.

Im not offended by what she said, I'm just curious by what she meant. I mean, I didn?t want to just forget her opinion especially if she judged me so seriously and I had no idea what she was even talking about. Lol. I wanted to figure out what she meant. Yeah I should have asked her but I was too caught up living in the moment that I didn?t realize until after.

It was a lady I will probably never see again. I just thought seeing as I was online answering a couple of questions on this site, that I would ask this question. I mean, why not? At least some confirmed definition of ?hard to please? might now show up on Google lol and people who also don't know what it means can have some insight by what you just said :) You can teach them.

So yeah, I've figured I am pretty high maintenance. But its good she told me this because it gave me time out to reflect on my actions and can now see this as part of who I am and what things I need to change. And its good for users on this site to speak truth. I would like to hear their opinions. But whether I take their opinions up or not, is my choice. Indeed. Well next time someone says something like this you should ask for a little elaboration on what they mean. Something like that. In the mean time you can always ask some friends on their opinions. Still it's not too important, unless it's really bothering you. If you want to fix it, then go ahead, if not then don't worry. But based on what you were saying to (female) Anonymous User, it sounds like you know what it means to some degree, and don't mind. So don't let it bother you.

Being "hard to please" means that it takes so much effort for someone to make a good impression for you. It means you are high maintenance, demanding and picky. In a relationship, the guy must try to express his love in all different ways for you to approve of him. You certainly wouldn't appreciate a simple card or a rose as a gift. You always look for more. Are you like that? :D

Yeah It does take much effort for someone to make a good impression for me. Lol. Yeah, I?m picky. I like to check a guy out first, see if I like him. I want to see if he?s worth it first. And in a relationship, I don't know because I?ve always received something expensive from my boyfriend... But I do appreciate what he gives me. I don't demand/depend on him for more things. I do like my own space and don?t think I?m at all that clingy; only sometimes.

You have all the right to have preferences. You are hurting no one. Next time someone tells you that you're hard to please, tell them you're hurting no one and it's called "preference". :)
