How do you tell when a guy is being sincere?

How can girls tell if guys are being sincere, or if they are just saying what they think the girl wants to hear just to shut them up?

I pay more attention to actions when I'm curious as to whether or not a guy is being sincere. And then there are those witty few who know how to act in order to fool you, too.

One thing that has never, ever failed me is listening for "the laugh."

It's this tiny chuckle guys will often do without realizing it. People naturally laugh to relieve tension and stress, so when a guy does this when he's feeling slightly awkward, I take it as a good sign.

Case in point: when I first started seeing my boyfriend, I was almost totally convinced that he was a jerk from the way he had acted before. It had been a while, so I gave him a chance to show he had grown as a person. What finally made my mind up - more than all the sweet gestures and the good conversations - was when he would pull away from a kiss, look me in the eyes for a moment, and then glance away and give that little chuckle.

That showed me that he wasn't fully comfortable with me, which was good for starting out. That meant that he didn't know exactly where it was going, whereas if he was using me, he would have had a plan and he would have been acting "smooth."

You tell if he's sincere from how sincere he's been in the past, and from how he treats you in general. If he behaves like he genuinely cares, then that's an indication that he might be sincere. Although it's never really sure, of course. Follow your gut feeling, I guess. If you can't trust your partner then you can forget making a long distance relationship work.

would a guy go out of his way to constantly initiate conversation, if he didn't care about the girl? like how can you tell if a guy is talking to you because he legitmately enjoys it, or if he's talking to you because he's bored and no one else is responding.

That's just guess work. What I'm trying to say is analyze him in general, don't just think about something so specific. Does he seem like the kind of guy who would just use you to avoid boredom? Ultimately you have to follow your guts and it's a risk you take.

what? this is an honest answer coming from a guy. What is "bullsh*t" is when girls say looks don't matter personality and a sense of humor does. I tried an experiment where I tried to give off the worst personality ever and I still got girls...its all about looks but people don't want to accept REAL answers.

And there's another silly generalisation. Dude, it's not all about looks the same way it's not never about looks. Some girls like blondes, some like brunettes. Some girls like you with a sh*t personality, some like a total different thing. If that was an experiment, you've had your premises wrong and actually proved nothing but what's common sense: we're different and like different people.

if he keep pushing to hang out and stuff I would assume he's sincere. I would watch out for those guys who will give up after a week or two.
