He kissed me but now seems to be avoiding me?

Ok- so this guy and I have had a flirtation going for awhile now and on the weekend we ended up spending most of our time together at a birthday party, talking, flirting,and finally kissing. He asked me what I was doing the next day and when I told him my plans he didn't say much. I texted him the next day and he answered but didn't say much so it wasn't a long conversation. Then- all week I didn't hear anything from him (he's been away for work so it MIGHT be that but he still took his phone so he could've texted) even though he's had my number for ages and used it before. I texted him today and same thing- he answered right away but didn't keep the conversation going at all. It's like he's avoiding me now. I'm SO confused- why did he kiss me if he was just going to avoid me after?

I have one advice; text him and ask him if he wants to hang out, then you'll get your answer. He might just be shy and most guys aren't much of texters either, so that might be the reason why he's coming short.
