He flirts but talks about other girls??

This boy flirts with me, but then talks to me about other girls like he will say I've got a date on Wednesday. But then will say something like I bet she won't like me,i look rubbish on pictures. And I mean I get the impression he wants me to compliment him.

I mean I mention other boys in front of him, but only because he says about these girls. And he says stuff like if I moan about a date or something he'll say oh just stuff him or something like that.

He asks me about other boys, like if I would go out with them, kiss them etc.

He flirts with me, like he was poking me with this brush, and he'll tease me and joking call me babe and stuff.

Also I was saying to him that I'd gone off boys at the minute and he said its just cos your meeting the wrong ones, wait a few years and you'll meet a nice mature one. I mean that's a weird thing to say isn't it?

I said I'm yet to meet a nice boy and he said 'i'm a nice guy'

So I'm confused. Why flirt with me but still mention other girls? Why say about me meeting a nice boy?

He said it annoys him cos he's a nice guy but can't get a girlfriend.

And when I asked him about his date, he didn't say much about it.

What do you think he is doing? Why is he acting like this with me and saying these things?

Friend Zone!

In fact, you've given pretty much a textbook description of it. I thought most girls would recognize what this means since they friend zone people all the time...

Dudes do it too but in slightly lesser degree.

It's quite simple. When a guy ever starts mentioning interest in other girls, he is telling you that he considers you a friend.

Now, there might be chemistry between you two. There probably is. The boy might even recognize that there's chemistry there. He probably wouldn't be flirting with you if there wasn't. He probably flirts with you because he feels comfortable flirting with you, because it gives him some practice. And who knows how he really feels about you? It's entirely possible he could even have some deep feelings for you buried somewhere.

But none of that matters, because you are just a friend. And can you blame him for not pursuing you? Heck, you told him you are "off boys." I don't think girls realize that for a boy to actually pursue them requires an investment of a whole lot of emotional energy. It's not something that happens automatically. If the energy is most likely going to be misspent, friendship is a much better option.

Don't be that girl who waits for a boy to pursue her who never will. You have two options. Either accept that you are just friends (with some mutual fuzzy feelings) as he has. Or take a risk and break the friend zone. It must be your decision. There's chemistry but there's no fuse.

He sounds like a little drama queen fishing for compliments/attention based on the first part. Or he has low self esteem. He obviously seems to be giving you very big hints. Sometimes people ramble on about girls/guys to gauge the persons reaction.

either way sounds like he likes you or is leading you on, should probably find out.
