When does the ugly duckling phase pass/end?

Isn't it usually around the end of high school or does it just happen to occur throughout adulthood and then people see you and are like "wow!"?

It varies. I went through that as throughout high-school I never cared about my appearance per se save for being shaven and wearing the uniform correctly/neatly and had no hairstyle to speak of but once out I grew into my looks and haven't really looked back. I guess perhaps I had potential that had been untapped. I was told that I have aged well and saw that for myself at the 10 year reunion where not to be unkind, some had not aged so well - smoking and drinking to excess probably played a part in that as I do neither and rarely if ever go out and stay out to some ridiculous hour.

Take away the professional hair/makeup artists and photoshop, and she's not particularly marvelous. I mean, of course she's not ugly, but she's hardly this stunning beauty you're making her out to be.

For most girls it ends after high school or once they gain confidence and start feeling themselves, for guys usually well after puberty once they reach their maximum height.

For some people like myself being an ugly duckling is permanent.

Megan Fox looks beautiful in the 2nd link. Now there is something very synthetic about her looks. Oh well, she's still a billion times more attractive than me.

and you can become better looking with time,most people figure out what works for them with experimentation,and skin,hair,makeup,fitness,clothes can make a huge difference.

Everybody is as average as the next person, the media only make's it sound like some people are better looking then others, but that only works if your as easy brainwashed as the next person. That doesn't mean you can't make yourself ugly, overall; take care of yourself. Eat healthy, and exercise. Stay stress free as much as possible. This will keep you looking healthier and younger.

The ugly duckling phase usually ends in the first few years post high school (18-22). That is the age that most girls should look their best. I don't think Megan Fox was ever ugly. She was an average girl with potential. The right image consultants got a hold of her and enhanced that potential. Also if Adele hit the treadmill she could become amazing like Jhud and Jordin Sparks.

I think you can but it mostly is a result of a change of style or loss of weight or something. There are certain features someone will always have and can't control but I think the ones that they can control (hygiene, losing weight, acne management, braces,more glattering clothing) are what makes them appear more attractive
