i don't know about depressed but definitely the moodiest. these people are dramatic, they express emotion and FEEL emotion easily. I know because I am one of these people. I experience 1000 different emotions a day
The logic behind it is that some such people may want to HIDE it - so they put on the fakest, cheerful face in front of them when around others.

False , It's pretty hard to fake happiness when your depressed . The people I know that have bad attitudes have bad attitudes , And they have major issues.
many a great stand up comedian has turned their depression/failure in life into comedy gold for millions of people globally to enjoy. so essentially I agree with that statement.

A psychologist look would say it is somewhat simular to people with bi-polar disorder. Some people live on the edge of two extreams, either extreamly happy or extreamly sad and can not find a place in between.

you are considered happy if your mind, words, and behavior harmonize each other.

Nah. I do think that smart people tend to be the saddest/depressed.

Oh yeah. Sounds like me. I had a rough time growing up in elementary and middle school, so I knew what it's like to be constantly down in the dumps. Now, I try to hide all that with jokes and laughter, but it's nice because I believe that those that had rough pasts tend to be kinder to everyone else in their lives as well.

occasionally, other times they genuinely are happy
normally if it's me, i always tends to act happy and funny around my friends when stuff happens. I don't show any sadness or depress since i don't like bothering people with my problems. i just hide it and deal with it on my own i guess.

I know that a lot of the happiest people that I met have some factor in their life that would have crippled me if I was in their shoes.
