The "Dad Bod" Is Actually Really Sexy

Last month a student from Clemson University, Mackenzie Pearson, wrote an article about why girls love the dad bod and since then the dad bod trend has taken off like wildfire.

Before I go on I'll tell you what constitutes a dad bod:

The dad bod is a nice balance between a beer gut and working out. The dad bod says, "I go to the gym occasionally, but I also drink heavily on the weekends and enjoy eating eight slices of pizza at a time." It's not an overweight guy, but it isn't one with washboard abs, either. -Mackenzie Pearson

So if you're somewhere inbetween ripped Pratt and (or just) fat Pratt you have a dad bod.

The majority of women (NOT all) on the internet are loving the dad bod. Here are 9 dad bods that women just can't get enough of.

There is a good reason why women like the Dad bod. Most of the pictures are of succseful people and thats what they like, but most of them don't know it so they explain it withe body. Men and women choose partners differently. Because men can spread their DNA relatevley easy among many women they don't care much about long term prospects and mostly go for how a woman looks. Big breasts, wide hips and long legs signal phisical health so they go for it. On the other hand a woman can only carry one ofspring at a time so the stakes are higher for her. Initialy she will also go for the guy who is tall, has wide sholders and narow waste but then the rest will come in to play. Status, economic and social, inteligence and long term prospects. That's where the Dad bod comes in. Regardles of man's beer belly, bald spot and any other flaws, if hi has a good job, is economicaly secure and inteligent the chanses are, he will be chosen by a woman instead of the guy who lives in a rented apartment with mismached furniture, has no stable incomeand and spends a lot of time at the gym. To a woman the long term prospects are more important than a six pack that can deflect arrows. So regardles of what most women say in this discution, most of them like sculpted bodys in teory but reality says otherways.
So for the guys with the riped bodys, if you want a long term relationship with a beautiful inteligent woman, you need more than a gym pass. Get a carrear going grow up and think long term. That's what's important at end.

I never said you should financially support a woman, they are self sufficient thees days, but she would make sure she doesn't support your broke ass. All of the stuff I talk about comes from research, so like it or not it's the reality. Those guys are cute, quirky, vulnerable, and maybe the body says they're not that into their image, but the body ITSELF isn't a turn-on. Like Chris Pratt was supercute BEFORE when he had the Dad-bod, and he's still supercute now that he's more "sexy". His new bod is definitely better, but the fat, while NOT more SEXUALLY attractive, is cute and cuddly and makes us "Aw...". I'm down with dad bod if it means we can both chill out and order dominos and drink beer sometimes. I'm not down with a dude expecting me to stay a size 5 while his love handles are hanging over his boxers, though (been there, hated that).

Some people are confusing it with thinking that dadbod is aesthetically preferable to a ripped guy's bod. It's not usually that, it's that having a cool boyfriend you have fun with is better than looks alone. For Crossfit mama, dad bod might have a six pack and eat clean. For chicks who wanna Netflix and craft beer it on weekends now and then, some softness is ok. For a woman struggling with her weight, a heavy guy who understands can be great.

Having seen articles about the dad bod it's about girls lowering their standards for horrible reasons. The reasons I see are insecure, narcissistic, and selfish.

One reason I saw was "We like being the pretty one" which just shows girls into the dad bod know that if they date a guy who takes better care of his body that he may get more attention and she wants all that attention to herself. She would be dating a guy taking care of his body when she is not and feel inadequate to him. So rather than be inspired to get in shape herself she'd rather find a guy she feels "better than" than get in shape.

Rather than lowering the standards, these girls should focus on bettering themselves.

Yeah, if I'm expected to look 18 when I'm 40 and have had children, I expect for a man to try as hard as I do to look attractive. You guys have everything going for you. No pregnancy, testosterone, manual labor, etc . It is much easier for a man to lose weight and keep it off and eating 8 pieces of pizza and drinking 8 beers puts you at about 3200 calories, when you should only consume 1800-2200. I don't have a problem with the dad bod, but I have a problem with the theory behind it. Guys are promoting it to women as a means of saying, "Don't you want a good guy with a nice personality? Give up your dreams of a hot dude and choose the dad bod!" However, on the slip side, do you think the 'mom bod' would EVER get the crown from men? Hot moms are only praised when they've managed to maintain their bodies to look like a teen/20's body as they've aged, not for showing signs of aging like the 'dad bod.'

That being said, if I'm married into my 40's and 50's to a guy with a dad body (and not one who has completely let himself go), I'd consider myself extremely lucky. But as a woman in her 20's will I consider myself lucky that I'm slaving away at the gym to stay "hot" and he's guzzling beers on the weekend because the 'dad bod' is the new trend? Not really. Disagree. Look at it this way. Attraction is based on a primal sexual preference. So men who like fat women or older women could just genuinely be sexually attracted to them. It could be a relatability thing. Men who like fat women could be attracted to the different type of confidence a bigger woman exudes. As for older women, perhaps they like them because of a first-time sexual exposure to an older woman, maybe an aunt with ample breasts.

I like the dad bod myself. I'm a curvier girl and I like my man to be somewhat curvy too. I love knowing he's the same size/bigger than me--that way I can feel that he can physically support me. Although, it's not black and white, because I'm also attracted to men who take care of themselves by being healthy--be it the food choices they make or the fact that they go to the gym. So, a man who's ripped would look awesome too!

I accept that if I want a good husband, I'm going to have a dad bod. A man who works 5 days a week long, hard hours and still comes home to see his kids and get enough sleep. A man who makes time for a workout on Saturday and uses the rest of the weekend to take me out and spend time with the kids. A man with that much on his plate shouldn't have time for the gym everyday.
Plus, my boyfriend has a dad bod even though he's not a dad. I sometimes wonder what it would be like to cuddle him if he had a hard body like the ones I see at the gym. I realize that I prefer his belly to cuddle any day of the week.

This is just the latest bullshit to make people not feel they should look after their bodies - it's already been done for women with the misappropriation of 'curvy', so now it's happening for men with 'dad bod'.

I like beer and wings and burgers and pizza too. But not as much as I like wearing slim fit shirts, being able to run up stairs, bike 50km or rock climb.

they certainly can do a lot, but to call the dad bod healthy is stretching the truth. The main problem with it is all the deep fat tissue involved, the fat arround your organs.
It's not quite visible, but it's at least as effective at killing you as regular fat tissue. That's the problem with it

Seriously.. I am ectomorphic. I dont just 'struggle' to put on weight. I struggle to avoid losing weight!
I've tried to gain muscle, doesn't work. I've tried to all out fat diet. No weight gain. It all makes me feel sick eating that much.
Now I just eat what's healthy and feels good. I'm sticking to my skinny body because its the most natural state for me.
Unfortunately that means that I will continue to look weak (thanks to being short and pasty white skin aswell). Fuck my life.
