Time for Dirty Gains

You trying to make some gains? That's good man, that's real good. What you want (ladies and gentlemen) is higher testosterone levels. Available test' levels will help increase strength and muscle gains. It is worth noting that these will only increase test' levels and not necessarily available test' levels; leading to a better workout, not increased recovery.

- Women
Studies show that men who look at pictures of attractive females or watch porn before a workout have higher intensity sets and are able to do more reps of the same exercise compared to those who went in unaroused. Similarly, women sitting on your lap when you bench has been known to increase intensity and maximal load. Women are incredible motivators indeed.

- Fat
Fats are paramount to testosterone production. While healthy fats are far preferable, dirty fats will serve as well in moderation. Don't cut fats completely out of your diet or you will experience a net drop in not only gains, but libido as well.

- The King of all Exercises
If you don't know what I'm talking about from the subtitle, shame on you. I am of course talking about the dead lift. After a maximal (or close to) dead lift test' levels have been known to increase (temporarily) by as much as 1000%. If you've ever dead lifted at maximal loads before, you know that you feel like you can break through walls and doors aren't wide enough to fit through regularly. The marked increase in testosterone is true for any heavy compound lift, however it is especially true for the dead lift as weights are generally heavier and your entire body is activated in the movement.

- Marijuana
This does nothing to test levels themselves, however those under the influence of THC and cannaboids have shown the ability to workout longer and with higher intensity. This is coupled with the general pain reduction one experiences from marijuana, and generally leads to an intense workout. Similarly marijuana has been shown to increase recovery time.

- Forced contraction slaps
This is very controversial and some deny any benefit to slapping muscles before and after an intense set. There are very accomplished athletes on either side of the argument and so I think it is worth taking into consideration. I can only speak for my self but sets do see more intense with this then without it.

- Flexing/Admiring yourself in the mirror
Yes, this does effect test' levels significantly. Higher testosterone levels are associated with high body image, and flexing in the mirror quite literally improves body image (if you are seeing progress). Next time you flex in the mirror, don't think of it as being vain, think of it as increasing test' levels!

This has been my short, down and dirty guide to getting them dirty gains. Carry on swoldiers.
