It sucks that you can't eat gluten, is there an alternative for something like pasta? Because I don't know how I would live without it!
Yeah, there is gluten-free pasta in stores. It's alright but I don't cook it often because it has a different taste and consistency than regular pasta. Lol
This was an interesting read on something I did not know much about. I look forward to reading the next one you write.
Thank you! Glad it was interesting to you :)
This doesn't need to be complicated. Many people simply believe what they are told. This all flies in the face of science and reason. If people want to be that way it's fine UNTIL they impose their views on the rest of us.
What are you even talking about? Someone having a medical problem that prevents them from not eating gluten is not imposing their views on anyone else, which is what this take is about.
I'm agreeing with your take. I'm not sure how you missed that.
I think it was where you said, "this all flies in the face of science and reason." which I interpreted to mean that you thought the take was scientifically inaccurate in some way. I didn't mean for my comment to sound aggressive either so I apologize for that.
Thankyou! I'm glad someone else has shared my experiences! The severity of coeliac disease is so rarely understood and the gluten free fad really isn't doing us many favours!
Yes! I completely agree, I hate that it has just turned into a fad because I feel like that makes people not take gluten free diets for medical purposes seriously :/
I know! I've had so many people tell me I'm skinny already so I don't need to diet! Or that a little bit won't hurt! and half the time that's after I've explained everything! There's a real lack of understanding concerning coeliacs and gluten free diets. :/
Oh my gosh, I understand completely. Before my diagnosis. I only weighed 110 pounds (which is underweight for my height) and people kept telling me to eat more but I was eating, my body simply wasn't absorbing the nutrients because of the intestinal damage. Since going gluten-free, I have gained 10 pounds so I think I look healthier now but people still tell me I'm too skinny. And yeah, I had one person tell me, "can't you have just a small bite?" (referring to gluten foods) and I was like uh... no! :(
Yeah sure, just ask them how much they like stomach cramps and diarrhea right? I think the best way to paint the picture would be to ask them to drink a bottle of exlax and just deal with the pain and discomfort of having to sit on the toilet the entire night or the next couple days ya know?
I can eat whatever I want but I completely empathize with you and my family about this topic as it controls what and how we eat. I even keep my food out in a separate refrigerator to avoid cross contamination to families food. So does anyone still think it's not a big deal?
What happens if you eat gluten? If you have this disease?
I talked about that in the third paragraph. It makes the person really sick. Symptoms include severe abdominal pain, bowel problems, and vomiting, as well as irritability, migraines, bone, muscle, or joint pain, etc.
I'm sorry I sort of skimmed through it.
That's okay :)
My mother has celiac disease.
Really? Well then I'm sure you already knew most of the things I wrote about :)
yep lol. Good take
Thank you :)

Thank you for reading :)
