You want to gain lean muscle, not fat. That way you won't be flabby, instead you'll be toned and in shape. You don't have to worry about looking buff or very muscular (you'd have to be on a very strict exercise and diet program to look like one of those female bodybuilders).
You'll need to workout regularly and focus on strength and weight training (with only light occasional cardio).

lift some weights and also focus on using your body weight as weights instead of heavy weight. load up on protein, cut out junk food.
