I've read that you should not eat so many carbs, but does that mean no brown carbs aswell?
I have joined a gym, but I basically dont know what I am doing haha.
Please help!
Losing weight (safely) is not any kind of a mystery, and fad diets are all crap. The right way is well-known:
First: eating. It's much easier not to eat so much "bad stuff" than to eat it and try to exercise it back off.
You should be doubling your intake of FRESH fruits and veggies, continuing to eat lean meats and eggs in moderation, reducing breads and starches (potatoes, pasta, etc.), and drinking plenty of water. You don't have to go without those things completely, but reduce your portions, and augment with more fresh veggies.
You should also be reducing or eliminating:
- soda/energy drinks
- coffee (especially the desserts that Starbucks likes to call coffee)
- fast food
- junk food (chips, cookies, desserts, candy, etc.)
If you have a craving for some of this stuff, allow yourself a SMALL portion 2-3 times a week. A SMALL bowl of ice cream, or a few chips, or whatever, aren't going to kill you as long as you keep the portions small and only treat yourself every 2-3 days.
Second: exercise.
You really need CARDIO: you need to get your blood pumping and your lungs working. 20 minutes a day is fine, but you need to keep the tempo up, and you should be sweating and breathing hard. Cardio will reduce fat but won't significantly increase muscle mass, so your weight and size will both drop. You can't really target WHERE you lose weight on your body - that's up to genetics, and everyone is different, but if you follow this basic formula, your weight loss should be pretty even.
Don't expect miracles overnight - this way will absolutely work, but it isn't a crash diet that takes the pounds off quickly, which will almost always lead to yo-yoing (going up and down in weight).
It's pretty basic, just live off fruit/vegetables and meat (preferably fish or chicken) then go to the gym and do more cardio than you think you can handle. I'd gotten very out of shape, i've recently started going to the gym again, first time I went I probably overdid it a bit and ran until I threw up, although generally I run until I feel like that or until I feel like my legs will just stop working, and that's really what you have to do to make progress, stopping because you're tired doesn't do anything for you, you just have to push through it so in the future you can run for longer and run further... i.e. you'll be able to burn more calories in one go. I've only been back at the gym 4 times and i've already lost 2kgs, which is quite a bit considering that the first time I went I was useless and the other three times are still me exercising when i'm completely out of shape.
yes dont hvae too many carbs but honestly sit ups are great for losing stomach fat! do it everyday just after you wake up. Aim to do at least 20 a day and work your way up. Good luck!!
I have the similar "problem" or where I'm stuck.
But drinking a lot of water, green tea before you sleep and also skip rope is a good idea :)
