White noise. It's a constant sound that does not vary in pitch. There are cd's you can buy with it recorded.
But a far easier and cheaper way is your bedroom alarm clock. As long as there is a radio setting.
Turn the radio on and tune it so it is OFF of a station. So all you get is static. You don't want any music filtering through it. Then turn the radio volume down low, so you can just barely hear it
Basically it relaxes the mind. So you don't hear outside distractions. It also helps greatly with your thoughts. You're dead tired, go to bed. Then the second your head hits the pillow. Your brain goes into overdrive. You think about everything (Do penguins have knees?) and can't shut it down.
White noise gives your brain something else to do instead of thinking. It does nothing. Which allows you to get to sleep.
You can also get programs to download on your phone and computer for it.

Apart from what you already said, I only have a few
things whereas one of them probably is just me.
Anyway, the first, which is an actual method
insomniacs use, is to lie completely still
in your bed, for about 15min, this, supposedly
should make even insomniacs fall asleep.
The second thing is my own, I have a hard time falling
asleep as well, sometimes I don't even sleep at all. But
I've found that I have an easier time falling asleep
when I'm lying on my tummy.. this is
probably just me though.. ^.~

No, don't try to fall asleep when your not tired. That's stupid as you don't fall asleep faster because you try. Just stay up, do whatever you like untill you fall asleep, then sure you will wake up super late, but that's where you have to change it.
Try to wake up like 30 min, an hour or more depending on what you are capable off earlier every day. If you push it that way and it suddenly feels impossible to do it any further just let it stay at that time untill you feel like you can continueWake up early. Avoid laying in bed during the day. Try to have a relaxing time for yourself an hour or so before bed, avoiding things like eating, phone/computer, and exercising. Do some homework, that usually bores. Listening to music sometimes helps too.
Talk to your doctor I've been subscribed sleeping pills, mind you some times they don't really work.
Tricks or tip, I try to do some exercising about an hour before I go to bed (maybe walk the dog, some pushups/situps) nothing hard core but to get my body a little worn out. I also meditate sometime through out the day and this can help me relief stress and when it is successful I don't seem to have as much of a problem going to bed. Reading before bed can also help.Similarly to the white noise suggestion, those ASMR videos might help. I've heard that it works for some people. It is kind of relaxing in any case. Other than that and the stuff you mentioned, I couldn't say unless you wanted to seek your doctor's assistance on that.
