Should overweight fliers need to pay more?

Controversial question... personally if it's their own fault (they eat lots of junk food and choose not to exercise) and they take up two seats, then they should have to pay two seats! I'd hate to be sat next to an overweight flier who's taking up half my seat. HOWEVER if say it's a genetic/medical thing and they're actually advised by doctors NOT to exercise, then they shouldn't be punished for it.

That's just my opinion though. Fire off your own, back them up with explanations, examples, etc. and you're more likely to get MHO (even if it is in disagreement of mine) xx

Great. Another way to fatshame people. How about every skinny person on earth wear a fatsuit for one day in their lives and see how it feels like to be overweight and be treated like dog shit just because of their size. Not everyone is fat because it's their choice.

People need to stop treating overweight people like they don't deserve to be treated equally. People fight against racism, people fight for gay rights, but people are still being ignorant and actively bullying overweight people. What a bunch of arrogant jerks.

Maybe you'll have actually read the question properly now and realise I don't think every single overweight person is the way they are from their own choice.
Everyone should be able to love and accept themselves, their bodies included! However if I paid for a passenger seat for a flight, I'd want to be able to have all of that seat, instead of being only allowed to have half of it or something because the person next to me is so big (THROUGH THEIR OWN CHOICE, but if it's not through their own actions then it's not my problem).
Also, skinny people are body-shamed too. I'm not saying that skinny people are bodyshamed as much as fat people because they're not. But 'REAL women have curves,' 'Eat something!' 'Only a dog wants a bone,' and 'Who wants to cuddle a stick?' happens also.

I did read that part. But what I was referring to was people who has thyroid problems, not because their doctors don't allow them to exercise lol

If it's the seat that's the problem for you, here's some news:
Some skinny people also can take up half of your seat. When their elbows stick out. Hell I was in a flight one day and got a seat in the middle of the middle row. Both people on my left and right ignorantly leaned their heads on my shoulder. I'd say they should pay for my entire ticket too!

Those mean words about skinny people are onyl heard or seen on the internet or TV or wherever. They were never said out loud. Whereas you hear people saying "save the whales!" in front of a fat person's face or call them names in real life. And larger girls are just invisible to men. Whereas skinny girls still get the attention. No one is ever directly mean to a skinny person. There's no deliberate skinnyshaming. But fatshaming is somehow considered okay.

OK, you've made more sense this time, thank you :) But exactly, I mentioned genetic/medical too :p When skinny people do that though, you can always ask them to stop it or gently shove them off if they're asleep... (or passive aggressively sigh and look at their elbows and stuff) but big people can't get smaller! Larger girls are invisible to men? I'm no expert, but I remember at Fem Soc hearing that it drives one of my friends (deemed overweight) crazy when she hears the whole 'She got with them in spite of being fat,' as if it's some curse, when really it's just no big deal to the guy, and that fat isn't a fetish. How do you know skinny shaming doesn't happen in real life? Curious here. But it is still present online, definitely, and that still influences people's thinking and can cause esteem issues.

How do I know skinnyshaming doesn't happen in real life? Because I've never heard guys or kids say anything mean to skinny people that's related to their skinnyness. Mostly if someone is all skin and bones, anorexicly thin, they just whisper behind their backs. No one dares call them names the way they do to overweight people. Skinnyshaming is only present online and maybe on some songs, so it's only half as bad as it is for overweight people, who have to deal with assholes all the time, in real life too. And not just from people they know, but from strangers on the street as well. If that doesn't hurt your feelings, I don't know what will...

I don't know what your point about your friend and fem soc was. But if a skinny girl and an overweight girl stands side by side on the street, guess who guys will see first? I seriously doubt they'd even consider looking at the overweight girl.

yes, not only overweight but big built. If you don't fit into a seat you should pay more. I'm on an airplane about once a month and i'm claustrophobic, I can control it as long as I get to have my own seat to myself but if someone encroaches on my space it triggers an attack.
So yeah, If they don't want to lose weight/need to be big (muscles) then they should pay extra so I can be panick attack free.

i once heard some girls loudly complain about this at a rock concert. it was kinda mean because were aiming their comments at an overweight girl standing in front of them. i don't know really but i think people need to nip this in the bud.

Well the trouble is where you draw the line. I'm naturally a built guy, my shoulders don't fit within the width of any public transport seats or aeroplane seats -I can't help that? I'm healthy and not in the least bit fat

Most air ports do charge for two seats if someone is overweight. I am overweight and I agree that it is my fault. Though I'm not so big to where I would have to get another seat if I was I would take the responsibility to pay extra

Usually when I sit on planes, I do strech on more than one seat but its ok because next seat is mostly of my brother or buddy. So that make me obese? Lol
