Memory problem, what could be the cause?

So last night I had a conversation with my dad. He was expressing how worried he was about me since I have so much troubles remembering certain stuff. He thinks something is wrong with me :p.

Like I have a hard time remembering places, streets, locations (even in my own tiny village, which I've lived for 18 years), names, people, stuff I was doing, dates, etc.

For example:
- when I'm driving my car, and I have to get to somewhere (I have been numerous times), I can only recal some images but never entirly how to get there.

- I'm doing a task and someone asks me to do something and I clearly heard it and said yes, after the task I will just forget.

- Sometimes I'm talking to people and I'm trying to find a word to describe something and then I just forget what I was even talking about in the first place.

- Going to get stuff and just forgetting in the middle of the proces what it was. And it ussualy takes a while before I can recall.

Sooo what do you guys think? :p Personal experiences? :) Should I be worried?

Sounds like episodic memory loss, but the diagnostic differential is enormous. Sometimes, it's repression related to stress or post-traumatic stress disorder. However, that doesn't seem to be the case here and taking your age into account, here are some suggestions:
-Lupus or other autoimmune disease (if other symptoms are present)
-Narcolepsy without cataplexy
-Epilepsy with Absence Seizures
-Lyme Disease (If you live in the northeastern United States)
-Hepatocerebral Porphyria (if psychiatric, hepatic and/or parenthetic abnormalities are present)
-Sexually Transmitted Infection (unspecified)

However, there are many different causes and it may just be stress, so don't overreact. Consult your general practitioner or neurologist on the matter.

I have episodes of where i forget peoples names but i suffer from Bipolar,
Schizo-affective disorder, Anxiety, Depression.. Lot of mental health
illnesses will do that to someone Also it could be Thyroid disease
One good thing you do know this is going on so your aware of it
so we will rule out Alzheimer/ Dementia. My late grandma had
dementia but she didn't know that she couldn't recognize that
she was forgetting things

You want get checked for diabetes
heart disease, thyroid disease, Vitamin B 12
Do you have any medical past illnesses
What is some of illnesses that run in your family

You may want get sleep study done
you could have sleep disorder such
as sleep apnea also are you on
any medications these are things
you need to check on and your
symptoms do resemble mine too

Agree with everything except ruling out dementia. Many people who are in early stages of Alzheimer/Dementia realize they are losing memory functions. Sometimes it is just realizing overall memory problems. Sometimes it is recognizing problems only while in a more cognizant state.

But there are many reasons for memory problems. For instance the absent minded professor image can apply to many people.

Anyway, discussing the problems with a doctor is advisable because they know what to ask and where to refer you for more help.

wow okay lot's to take in :p, I checked the site I eat healthy and lots (fruits, veggie's, meat) so a B12 deficit I would doubt :/ Head injury could be possible (I box and kickbox) and I have gotten hit pretty hard frequently on the head (never a knock out thought), dementia oh god I hope not (but haven't heard from dementia in my family). I'm gonna ask my doctor however next time I go about this. I'm a terrible sleeper, it takes at least 1 hour before I fall asleep, but often even longer 2, 3 hours no matter how exhausted I am. Once I'm asleep I do not easily wake up.
Family ilnesses? Minor heart problems, perhaps depression from my dad's side (however I am emotionaly a very stable person and always positive).

You need to ask your doctor to order a
MRI with contrast to check for any head
injuries i had the contrast it's well tolerated
no side effects you just got drink loads of
water after the test
