Can you also have a hangover after a party without having used any alcohol or drugs?

I already have this since about age 30... even if I don't use alcohol (drugs or medication I've never touched except when ill) I'll still feel a hangover the day after having stayed up longer than about midnight.

I often say to people "my day ends at 11 in the evening"... meaning this is normally when I go to the bathroom to prepare to go to bed. More than an hour after that and the next day anything from "not feeling fresh" up to a headache may hit me.

Never, I can party myself to death

Yes, because you inhale lots of smoke even if you don't smoke yourself, but also alcoholic scents, the constant loud music has effects on your brain too, and staying up late on top of that will do the rest. It's definitely not even close to the feeling of a hangover caused by excessive use of alcohol and/or other drugs, but it is a kind of hangover nonetheless.

Oh, and I personally don't experience this, probably because I'm used to "real" hangovers. Haha.

Haha, thanks for sharing that! Well, real hangovers I've never had... since I never drink alcohol I become drunk from hanging over a glass and taking 2 deep breaths :-)

the word 'hangover' is used only when referencing alcohol or drug 'abuse'...
You can have a splitting headache from exhaustion and/or dehydration and/or loud noises.

Yeah, I'm convinced it's the nr 1 and 3. Not dehydration since I've been drinking water, fruit juice and coke the whole night.

I would say no, but hangover-like symptoms are possible. In your case, I'd say sleep deprivation (e. g. not enough sleep each night) or caffeine withdrawal.

Also, this isn't the cause in your case, but Gut Fermentation Syndrome is an interesting, but rare and frustrating disorder that is often misdiagnosed: www.ajol.info/.../86790

You may feel the headache from the lack of sleep. It's not a hangover. A hangover is more of a headache with a sensitivity to light and sounds. You could also be very dehydrated.

Well, dehydrated I'm not. I have drunk water, fruit juice and coke the whole night, more than enough.
But the lack of sleep was there! And I guess I'm just a bit more sensitive to lack of sleep and/or sleeping at regular times.

Maybe it makes you tired... I get headaches, bad lack of appetite (can't digest things easily), and if somebody tells something, I'll just blink and give them a blank stare. Nothing gets into my brain, when I have had hardly any sleep. Thinking becomes a hassle. With another day of lack of sleep, I start walking in a zigzag manner. lol :D

What you're experiencing isn't a hangover. A hangover comes from alcohol. Being burnt out comes from drugs. You my dear, are just tired from lack of sleep. Possibly having body aches from dancing, or doing crazy shit, or even just standing all night.

Oh yes, though I haven't been dancing I have been standing up all night, until 1 in the morning.
The answers I've read so far were very complementary: noise, tiredness and standing up seem to be the 3 main influences.

Tiredness is certainly a factor as well, and many suggested the noise could also play its role.
