Wisdom tooth extraction. How much will the swelling last?

Last Tuesday I extracted both my wisdom teeth from the left side of the jaw. The dentist had difficulties with the one in the lower jaw. And its this one that caused extreme swelling on my cheek. Im taking all the medications the dentist told me to but its been almost three days and I still look like a monster. I feel so terrible and depressed. I can barely eat anything, as I have difficulties moving my jaw. How long does it take until the swelling is gone? I can't go to work on Monday with a cheek like this! Also if you have any tips or websites with useful information Im happy to see them in your opinion.

I've only gotten one wisdom tooth extracted so far, so I'm not sure if you're more swollen than I was (especially since you describe it as "extreme swelling"). But for me, my face returned to normal within 2 weeks. For most people, the swelling was fairly unnoticeable the second week, but for me (since it's my face and all), I didn't think it was completely gone until after the second week had passed. Keep popping pain killers, make sure not to sleep on the swollen side of your face, put an ice pack on it every now and then, chew with the other side of your mouth and take small bites (or, just eat soup). I had to take a couple of days off work because I felt like crap too. Don't worry so much about it, it'll go away soon. And if it's still really bad in a week, maybe make another dentist appointment to see if everything is ok.

yes. I have stitches in the lower jaw also.

There might be something wrong, eg it got infected or you need a bigger dose of painkillers. Ask your dentist if it's normal that you feel this way. Tell him how you feel and he'll know what to do. You can put ice on your cheek, but not where the stitches are

I visited my dentist too times after the surgery but he said its alright. And yet Im still worried because the medication Im taking since yesterday night are supposed to reduce the swelling :(

Maybe it's too early. Wait for 1-2 days, and if the swelling doesn't go away call your doctor and tell him the medicine doesn't work
