If they are out, the dentist can usually pull them out... it's unpleasant, because you hear what is going on, but you can't feel it. After that it may hurt a little, but nothing major. However, if they are taken out surgically... I've heard it can hurt after it's done, so have some painkillers nearby and take them as soon as it starts aching even a little. In every case they make sure it's doesn't hurt while they are doing it.

Yes. I was knocked out when they did mine. They didn't pull mine out, they cut them out. They give you some nice pain killers though. :)
having an eye tooth pulled was far worse for me being the eye teeth have the longest roots of any tooth. wisdom tooth extraction isn't easy by any means so don't get me wrong
I wouldn't know I am one of the few people who didn't need to get theirs removed, I hear stories though lol.

I was knocked out when they took out mines, they also gave me pain meds which I did not have to take. I was lucky, I didn't get any swelling or pain.
Yes very much, it's the worst ever, when the pain killers where off... I still remember it many years after.
No you'll be asleep most likely.
