Skin peeling at the base of the my thumb nails? Cuticle peeling off?

It used to happen some time ago, but know it's constantly happening.
The skin is peeling at the base of both my thumbnails. on the inside part ( next to the index fingers). Besides the appearance of the dead skin hanging there, the area is red and painful. Sometimes it goes deep to the flesh.
Don't know how to better explain this.

Those are called hang nails and it means your cuticles are getting too dry. Try moisturizing them once a day with a good lotion.
