I used to have horrid acne. I figured out how to get rid of it by going on every stupid fad diet I could think of, until I found what work.
Senior year of high school, I cleared it up almost completely.
Keep in mind though. Stress is huge as well. You can be doing everything right. But if your sleep is poor and you're majorly stress. It will happen... maybe not as bad as if you hadn't changed anything, but you will still break out.
Okay... so after trying every stupid unhealthy horrible diet I would not suggest anyone to try (I mean Fruitarian? I can't believe I was so stupid.)... I've come to the conclusion that the things that are bad for your skin... the worst are these offenders. In order:
Dairy: Caused the most enflamed awful breakouts for me. Now I can get a bit of cheese or butter once in a awhile and be fine. But I generally just avoid it, because it also makes my face feel greasy.
Sugar (including sugar alternatives): No duh. There's really nothing good about it. But it seems to make my complexion messy. With darker spots or blotches of skin in some areas.
Bread Products (Basically turns to sugar in your gut): I've found that anything with gluten causes me to breakout as well. Not really sure which is worse. This or Dairy.
Starches: For example: French fries (unless sweet potato fries), potato chips, corn chips...
Not the best... because it tends to make my skin over-oily. It also happens to turn to sugar in your system.
Okay. So, that's what helped me. I realize it's a huge shift, and a bit extreme for newcomers to health and fitness eating, and some people aren't even bothered by bread products like I am. But I thought I'd just let you know what some of the worst offenders are for skin.

While I get a pimple maybe once a month, I can get mine to go away in 2 days (4 days if its a bad one) with campho phenique (it is not for acne, it's for bacteria, but since that's all a pimple is, that's why I use it) may family has used it for years!
To prevent acne from coming up, if you use make up, try to ease up on it or take a break.
While many say to scrub your face, the will lead t premature wrinkles if done daily. If you use a deep cleaning scrub, try to only do it once a month or 2 weeks.
Try not to stress (that's where my pimples come from) just be more organized, take a nap from time to time, and relax.
There are plenty of factors that can cause a pimple, you have to Identify them to really know what to do to resolve the problem.
Black heads, they are kind of unpreventable because they are just big pores with the dirt of the everyday life inside. Wash your face normally to make sure they don't form into pimples, but to get the "black" out of black (or even white) heads, I use a tad bit of glue and let it try and peel it off. (or a facial organic peel can be used to if you have the money for it, i use glue because its way cheaper for a routine basis)
And just know it could easily just be hormones and puberty that are making you break out. Somethings we cannot control, just contain.
