I don't have chiseled abs or anything right now, but my core if really toned/flat, legs are definitely nice&defined, on top of other places so not sure if I'd qualify as 'super fit' but..
How long it took depends on how you look at it. I've been working out at the very least 3-4x/week for 1.5 years now. I wasn't fat before, but not toned at all, never worked out. When I first started hitting the gym, I saw the first bit of results within 2 weeks. That was when I'd go to the gym 4x/week. How I've stayed motivated to continue was initially, working out with a friend which made exercising more of a social/friendly competition thing than a chore. Once I started seeing results, it was all downhill from there. Maintaining them was motivation within itself, and I grew to actually really enjoy visits to the gym, later branching into more varied workouts like badminton, bike-rides, jogging, etc.

Well it definitely doesn't happen over night. No super pill can help you achieve what you want. If you can't collect the motivation within yourself, than you don't want it bad enough. Going from what you call average to supermodel fit, that will take anywhere between a year to a few years. Everyone is different, depends on your genetics. I lose fat and gain muscle easy, so within a year I was able to change my physique no problem, but many girls find it harder to do so. It's all in your genes. You need to find a way to make weight lifting a habit. An hour or two hours in the gym every day, four days on, one day break, so on and so on. Eat healthy, cut down on junk food.
Motivation comes from you though.
I went from skinny, to a very cut and healthy weight, to skinny again lol. It took me about a year and a half to get to my best shape. I would work out about 2 hours a day 5-6 days a week. Gained 30 pounds of muscle. I would just eat anything and drink protein smoothies. In med school now as well, so I feel you. I keep telling myself to get back in shape, but, well you know already know what med school is like haha. I have my finals in a month :(
You must not want it that badly if your motivation runs out. You need to be deriving something from doing it - whether you enjoy it, whether you feel satisfaction from getting closer to your goals, or your clothes getting loser... SOMETHING has to make you want to continue, and you need to figure out what that something is. Otherwise, like anything else you don't enjoy, you will find any and all excuses to give up.

its a lifestyle change, so you just have to start and slowly keep working at it, integrate into it. it will become more and more normal. but I remember a pic you posted a while back, d00d you look a bit above average if anything.
it's really hard to stay motivated in the first few weeks, we all know it. but as soon as you see results, it becomes fun and addictive and you don't even need motivation anymore.
another tip too: focus on your body dream on you. see it in your mind and feel it. it's dumb but our brain is so much more smart that we think. when you are stressed, for example, the body doesn't know who to react and tend to put on fat because they think we need it because we are in a bad situation (like in the old times :P) but if you tell your brain you wanna be fit and you show him, he'll listen to you when you'll be stressed or any other kind of situation i can't think of.
i sound dumb, but that's real. :) good luck and don't give up! take every single day at once, and you'll be fine.Back in my late teens, I really worked hard, mostly aerobic workout to be a long distance runner, but also enough weights to build upper body strength,
Mostly, I did this because Asian girls were so impressed, but hey, being healthy is a better reason. That's why I do it now.
Though I still enjoy the oohs and aahs from the Asian women.Just don't worry about what you look like, just start exercising carefully and without any overkill. And eat normally but avoid candy.
While you build up exercising gradually - always without feeling pain afterwards - you'll automatically lose a little weight. :D
Focus on feeling fit and the rest will follow automatically. Under no condition eat too little or you'll turn anorexic :oi have lost over 150 pounds i went from being very overweight to now thin. it took me three years a lot of running and biking and swimming and weightlifiting. i also got a personal trainer went to weightwatchers and got myself on a diet it was all worth in the end i am still working on my physique and there is still a lot of work to go but i am feeling confident now i am engaged and everything is going great
I went from being super skinny to where I am now. Tons of lifting, tons of carbs & protein, sleep. Took me years, it's a journey for sure. Ya Jen Selter is legit, and hot lol. Read on Bodybuilding. com, read everything. GOod luck!
I'm working out right now and I just tell myself to not rush it. Try to get quality instead of fast results.
