I face a similar problem. At least you sleep at night, what makes things worse for me me is that I don't sleep those 4 hours at night. Everyday I sleep from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM so it's a fucked up situation. But I know why this happens to me, it's because my addiction to G@G. However you may visit the doctor to see if you do have a problem or not.
I'm not that addicted though... I leave my phone alone after 10:30 and go to sleep and then set my alarm to wake up at 6. But then I wake up at 4
You're sleeping six hours because your biological clock is used to sleeping less than eight hours. It happened to me a lot and other crazier sleeping disorders. I recommend you to fix your schedule such that you can sleep more than six hours. You eventually return to your regular sleeping patterns.
But how do I fix it? Do I need to start sleeping at 8?
Yes. Well there are two possible options that come to mind. Try to sleep 8 hours. It will take some time to restore to regular sleeping pattern. Or you could not sleep one night and go to bed the desire time and sleep eight hours. You be tired enough to fall asleep instantly if you stayed awake all day. Though I personally recommend the first option not the second.
Of course you're tired, you need 9-11 hours. Go to bed earlier.

your body just gets used to waking up a a certain time. i can sleep at anytime but i still wake up at 8am everyday, even if i only got like 4 hours of sleep

no you are pretty normal actually.. normally people sleep 6-8 hours naturally.. unless they were REALLY tired
