if your goal is to lose weight, focus on cardio. between jumping rope, dancing, running, biking, etc. try for 60 minutes of exercise per day. Try to limit the amount of carbohydrates and sugars you eat each day-- FDA recommends 25 grams or less of added sugar in food each day. To put that into perspective, a smoothie or shake at McDonalds might have as much as 80 grams of sugar. If you avoid processed foods most of the time, it will have a huge impact.

To lose weight you need cardio running, biking swimming are all good. As a simple rule the less processed the food is the better for you. Fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats etc

Try some video fitness programs, like slim in six for beginners and then maybe Insanity (which works really good and quick). Like mysoccerman said, you need cardio in order to lose weight quickly, but you should try and get a mix in of both muscle and cardio.
