What is wrong with me?

Can a fear cause paranoia?
I have a fear of being sedated. It makes me paranoid because I think of all the things that can go wrong. Can that be a cause of possible paranoia? I don't worry about anything else, and I don't worry about it unless a doctor or a dentist suggest surgery. Other than that I am fine. Why am I acting like this?

I don't know enough. Lack of experience with the sedation? I've had it full on once and a few times when they numb you to pull out teeth. Look at the hard facts, most of the time the sedation works absolutely fine and is intended to avoid pain for the patient that would otherwise occur if you didn't use it.

I have been sedated before, for I have had surgeries in the past. However, I had surgeries done when I was younger (last time I was 7.) I don't like the idea of not being able to take action.

Do you still worry about it? I think some surgeries you can just ask not to be sedated, but then you'll have to deal with the pain. Otherwise, seriously, there is no reason to worry about it. It is really harmless.

Yes I do still worry about it. I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed soon (all four) and requesting to be awake. If they say no, then I won't have the procedure done. I don't care.

Trust me, it is safe. They are professionals who have done this many times before. It is a stable and popular procedure. You may be nervous, but have faith in the people or process. Experience is big.

Omg. Same. I have to get my wisdom teeth removed soon. I want to use local anesthesia instead of general. (I wanna be awake the whole time due to me being paranoid.)

Something might have happened to you that you have hidden in your subconscious mind. I would suggest you see a psychologist.

Maybe, you were given sedatives as a child... someone may have taken advantage of you. You may have eaten too many pills as a child. It's hard to say...

I was sedated when I was younger. I had surguries done on me as a child. Although I don't remember very first two. I remember being afraid of getting my tonsils removed because like I said in the description of all the bad things that might have happened. I have to get my wisdom teeth removed. I want to be awake the whole procedure. 1.) I don't want anything bad happening to me. 2.) I seen wisdom teeth videos; the way the look scares me. (They look dead sometimes)

I haven't told anyone. Not even my mother (because I don't think she will take me seriously and she will be remind that I do need to pay the oral surgeon a visit.) However, if it is something serious I would like to know before it escalates into something worse. I do want to talk to my doctor about it. She's kind and takes me seriously when I tell/ask her things (eventhough I don't ask much.)
