I remember one day in science class that somebody was talking about exercising and stopping obesity. My science teacher is a very percular person, one of the kids were talking about a flat stomach. She told us flat stomach is the wrong terminology for it becuase our stomach is inside our bodies. The correct one is flat belly or flat tummy? does it really matter? But is she correct we were using the wrong terminolgy for it? I know this seems stupid but I kept asking myself this over and over again, I got to know something or im going to go crazy, I have an obsessive complusive disorder so I can't really help it and I just wanted to ask you guys so I can calm down lol.

Ps. for example "I am burning fat in my stomach" or "I am burning fat in my belly." which one would be correct.

Just to be perfectly clear, in reality, nobody friggin' cares, but if we must get all technical and crap, your teacher is correct. The stomach is an internal organ where as the belly or the tummy refers to essentially the casing, aka the abdomen, torso, outer tissues, etc. that house/protect the stomach, so to say I want a flat stomach is erroneous. You want a flat belly or tummy.

Also just to be perfectly clear, that wasn't an indictment on you. I totally agree that some things just don't need to be that technical in order to get the meaning. I'm not confused because you said belly vs. tummy. Side joke: I have a bit of OCD myself and I saw a shirt that read, "I don't have OCD, I have CDO, because that's how the letter's should be arranged."

Now that I think about your teacher is right. The stomach is the organ inside your belly. You don't burn fat in your stomach unless fat is dissolving in your actual stomach. I think.

"Belly", technically. Your stomach is an internal organ preceeding the small intestine where food is broken down with acid.
