Are people who smoke nowadays mostly really stupid?

IT's one thing if it was before it was known how bad it was, but if you do it now you're really quite dumb and if someone like that gets lung cancer, etc... they really deserve it.

This doesn't apply to people like Leonard Nimoy who quit 30+ years before and obviously nothing could be done at that point.

When you look into the studies done on cancer and smoking there are actually a lot of flaws and no real solid evidence that it causes cancer or premature death at all, and in fact many claims are completely false. For example when they show pictures of black lungs they aren't actually smokers lung, black lung is what coal miners get. The benefits of smoking also are never talked about, for example smokers are much less likely to develop parkinsons disease or alzheimers, those are considered to be non-smoker diseases. The main problem with smoking is the added chemicals and diet plays into it too. Twice as many people in Japan smoke as American people, yet they have much lower rates of lung cancer and they rank third in age expectancy.

As compared to the millions of other things that can kill you just as slowly?

Diet soda, red meat, alcohol, eating more than 3 packs of Ramen in a single week. All of these things are carcinogenic, and cause deadly disruptions in the blood stream that can eventually kill you.

Wait a minute. LIVING eventually kills you!

I have known people who had NEVER smoked, and died of lung cancer in their 30's and 40's

I know people in their 90's who have smoked since age 12, and lived with parents who smoked.

Smoking affects people differently, because our immune systems can handle some things better or worse than others.

For the record, I have never even tried a single puff.

Red meat is BEEF, no matter how it's prepared. A lot of people can't afford to eat anything else but ramen 3 times a day.

There are NO studies for victims of lung cancer who never smoked. The existing statistics for lung cancer were collected from cancer patients who did smoke.

Smoking was always bad and always will be. People who smoked back then are dumb, people who smoke now or continued smoking from back then are still dumb.

They know what the consequences are for long term smoking and yet they still do it. They are digging there own graves.

People nowadays only do it to follow trends or fit in with others or because they think it's "cool"...

So because they're stupid they deserve it? Surely someone intelligent who is fully able to understand the choice the are making should be considered more deserving of that fate. (I wouldn't consider them as deserving it myself.)
