Anyone else experience derealization?

I have extremely scary and disturbing episodes where my mind goes weird on me. I may seem calm from the outside but my brain is going crazy and I can't describe the feeling. It's weird and I have absolutely no control over it. I've never done any drugs but it's what I'd imagine a terrible side effect to a drug would be like. I've tried to explain this feeling to family and friends but it's nearly impossible and people just say it's nothing. It's scares me so badly.
