Constipation due to meds...I am in so much pain please what do I do?

A week ago I got my wisdom teeth out. The pain meds they gave me (sorry for the two) have made me so constipated I haven't made a bowel movement in a week and one day. I feel the urge to make one really badly to the point where it hurts but whenever I go to push it out it hurts so bad. what are ways to releieve this?

Best way I know is with a trip to the pharmacy for an Oil Retention Enema. It goes up your butt using the attached applicator and it softens the stool and lubes everything. Hold it in for about 15 minutes while you tell everyone to stand back, lol.
Just sayin' it works. Good luck that's painful I know.

When you haven't had a movement for that long the poop has become hard and somewhat dry. Sure you can take the laxative too but with pain like you're having you really need an enema to get quick results. A laxative will take a day to pass through your system.

The fastest way it to take a laxative. There are plenty of different types you can pick up at your local drug store. It sound like you will need a pretty powerful and fast acting one so I would suggest a suppository.

No. Even faster is an enema. Fleets enema is the standard. Very fast.

@Red_Arrow Not sure a water or saline one would work that well for a weeks worth of blockage. But yeah, I agree although that would still fall under "suppository"

Nah. You squeeze the bulb to inject the liquid and then hold it. no suppository, which is a solid plug that is pushed in.

Lots of water and fiber. Eat a lot of bran cereal/figs and hydrate yourself a lot.

But check w/a doctor first. That sounds unhealthy. Like call a nurse hotline and make sure that the info I just gave you is a healthy/good idea.

True she may need something for pain relief. But remember it was probably from her pain relievers (hydrocodone, oxycodone, codeine etc) that she got constipated in the first place.
